The dinner guests were sitting around the table discussing life. One man, a CEO, decided to explain the problem with education. He argued,” What’s a kid going to learn from someone who decided his best option in life was to become a teacher?" To stress his point he said to another guest; "You're a teacher, Bonnie. Be honest. What do you make?" Bonnie, who had a reputation for honesty and frankness replied, "You want to know what I make? (She paused for a second, then began...) |

India Launches Full Nationwide Mobile Number Portability
Mobile Number Portability (MNP) has finally, after many delays, been launched across India today. The launch of the nationwide service was staged by Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh making an inaugural call to Shri Kapil Sibal, the Union Minister of Communications & IT from a ported number.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Kapil Sibal said that though India has introduced Mobile Number Portability relatively late compared other developed countries but at the same time it has done so by adopting latest technologies and methodology. He further stated that seeing the size of the country, number of subscribers & their growth rate and the number of operators per Licensed Service Area, there will be hardly any country with a network of so much complexity where MNP has been implemented.

An Appeal for chidren
An Appeal Every one of us has experienced the power of knowledge. Our achievements are direct results of our knowledge, which we gained through education. Unfortunately, in the District of Karbi Anglong Assam, many people, especially children, do not have access to this most basic and important need. The reasons for such lack of opportunities rates among village kids include poverty, lack of awareness about the importance of literacy, ethnic violence and lack of conducive environment. The magnitude of the problem calls for our concerted efforts, not just by government, but also by all those concerned with the quality of life of the people. Background Information I have been involved in the support of 78 children who were direct victims of violence, these children have lost their father, mother or both in 38 cases, and we do not have orphanages in the district where we can put them. What we have done is to put them with their own relatives, like their own uncles, aunties and we help them with occasional inputs like financial help for education, stationery and medical care. In the year 2002 we had only 49 children, and the rest came as victims of the series of ethnic violence, between Karbis and Kukis(2003), Karbis and Khasis in 2003 and Karbis and Dimasas in 2005. Involvement of Local People. The local people have mobilized support to these children as local guardians in cases of sicknesses and help them with occasional support. Four schools in the Manja area; Nightingale School , Oxford School and Baptist School have helped in accommodating these children with free admission fees say Rs.525 per child and text books and note books. My Responsibility I have been involved in supporting these children with tuition fees, Rs.1200 per child. In the past it was done without soliciting support from other quarters from my own little contribution which came from my stipend and family. Since the number has added considerably I am finding difficult to continue this project. It is in this context that I seek your valuable help in supporting these unfortunate children of our place. I will be directly seeing the day today activities of these children. You are also welcome to visit these Children. May I request you to spare a thought for these Children of ours. No of Children seeking tuition fee per year- (78xRs.1500) Below is the criteria we will be following in determining which kid to support. • Children in families earning below Rs10, 000/-per year • Children who do not have basic amenities at home. • Children who are orphans and semi-orphans. Mode of sending the Assistance. The money by draft or cheque can be send to the following address. AC/Name: Fr.Tom Mangattuthazhe Ac.No.11880100111212 Bank Name. Federal Bank, Dimapur, Nagaland. My Postal Adress. Fr.Tom Mangattuthazhe Bishop's House Diphu – 782460 Karbi Anglong (Dt) Assam, India |
