Dr Sukumar Azhikode - passes away on January 24, 2012 at 06:33 AM at Thrissur Amala Hospital
He was 85 Year old. He was a recipient of several literary honours including the Kendra Sahitya Academy award. He was a true Gandian till the end of his life, He never hesitated in boldly expressing his views and concerns on various issues like social, political and cultural evils that was happening in day to day life. He was a strong Congressman in his early days. But towards the end he was seen more close to the Left leaders.
He was born in Azhikode village in Kannur district in 1926, he graduated in commerce and later did Masters in Malayalam literature. He taught literature in different colleges before joining as head in the Malayalam Department of Calicut University. Prof. Azhikode was serving as pro-vice chancellor of Calicut University whe he retired.

He was expert in Sanskrit and classical literature and also in Western philosophy and literature. He was writing columns and articles in newspapers and magazines.
His well known works are :
"Tatvamasi" - an intellectual exploration of the eternal wisdom of the Vedas and Upanishads
"Asante Seetha Kavyam" - a detailed textual study of poet Kumaran Asan's "Chinthavishtayaya Seetha"
Other works are Malayala sahitya patanangal, Vayanayude swargattil, Mahatmavinte margam, Malayala sahityavimarsanam, Mahakavi ulloor, Pathakal Kazhchakal, Guruvinte dukham, and Azhikodinte prabhashanangal.
Thathvamasi has won twelve awards including the Central(Kendra) Sahithya Akademi Award, Kerala Sahithya Akademi Award and the Rajaji Award. He had won Ezhuthachan Puraskaram - the highest literary award instituted by the State Government in 2004.In Jan 2007, he refused to accept the Padma Shri conferred on him stating that Such honours are against the spirit of Constitution which insists on equality of all citizens and vehemently opposes any form of discrimination.

IRCTC brings to you the mobile website https://www.irctc.co.in/mobile with just a few clicks you can book your tickets using your Mobile Phones. IRCTC mobile website is convenient and easy to use, can be accessed from any browser enabled mobile having basic GPRS activated on phone.
The following features are available:

Then You are invited to the Azim Premji Foundation Fellowship Programme
The 2 year Azim Premji Foundation Fellowship Programme seeks to build rich perspectives on educational issues through a well designed combination of theoretical inputs and experiential learning. The Programme is intended to develop a strong social orientation and competencies required in the education and development sectors.
This rigorous 2 year Programme comprises of:
• 45 day classroom module to strengthen conceptual understanding of education and development issues
• 22 months of intense field engagement at the grass roots level in the District Institutes of the Foundation.
• Working on a live project that has significant purpose of improving quality at practice level
During the period of the Fellowship you will be based in some of the most underdeveloped districts of India.
About You
You should be a professional with at least 2 years of experience and at least a graduate degree. We welcome people from a variety of educational and professional backgrounds as long as they are passionate about making a difference. Prior experience in the education or development sector would be an added advantage.
Stipend and Employment
You will be paid a monthly stipend of Rs. 25,000 or more depending on your work experience and suitability for the Fellowship. On your successful completion of the Programme, you may be offered employment opportunities in the Foundation, at an appropriate compensation package.
Location
The classroom module for 45 days will be held in Bangalore during which suitable arrangements will be made for your accommodation. During the 22 month field attachment, you will have to make arrangements for stay in the districts at your own cost. The Foundation may however assist in finding suitable accommodation.
The districts to which you will be assigned include – Yadgir & Mandhya (Karnataka), Dhamtari (Chhattisgarh), Uddhamsinghnagar & Uttarkashi (Uttarakhand), Sirohi & Tonk (Rajasthan) and Mehaboobnagar (Andhra Pradesh).
